The Very True Story of NewYork 2148

Our Story

Picture
Hello, we are the creators of the new version "NewYork 2148 Series." We are both 17 years old, and to many's surprise, twin brothers...weird isnt it. We have been animating for about roughly 6 years, and been drawing ever since we can remember. It all started in the 5th grade when we really started to get serious with our work. From expanding funny comicbooks we used to make at lunch at school, and basicly anyhwere else. To a fun way of animating, and probably the most basic form, stickynote pad flipbooks.

We made the comics and the flipbooks at the same time, but we felt an ever growing need to animate and create alot more. So we truned our attention to the computer age. We then started making powerpoint animations, where we would draw a picture in MS Paint, import it into Powerpoint, then just press play. I bet your imagining that they sucked, well, they did, but it was our suckyness that made it truely remarkable. We continued this process for about 2 years until we came across a very widely known system called Pivot. When we got our hands on this program, we were estatic, we couldnt stop loving animation more and more.

We eagerly progressed in using pivot, and to our great surprise, we became damn good at it, using the system for our school projects and just demonstrating to everyone who watched them, how much we loved animation. Using this system, we finally found the will to join the Youtube community and show the world what we could do. We joined Youtube on December 14th 2007, and became popular for our crappy animations using pivot. Although, the fun didnt last long, it never does. Using it for approximately 11 months, we grew weary of the system and its repeditive look, feel, and animations that we made with it, we just needed a new outlet, and we shortly found it.

About a week after offically quiting pivot, we discovered a whole new world that broudened our views of everything. We found Flash. A wonderful and very creative system used to make alot of unique animations and bring life to art on a blank canvas. We started flash October 19th 2009,  and havnt stopped loving it since, we have been able to use the creativity we have, with the uniqueness of the system to bring to you all that we have. This would , of course be including, the NewYork 2148 Series.

Now, this basicly ends the story, but stories never really end, they just change, the way we think of it, the way we want to know more. So to "change" and "know more" we will tell many of you the reasons on why and how we started the series.

On the website DarkDemon.org, about a good, 1o months ago, there was a NewYork 2148 Tribute collab on the sections forums. Now, i bet all of us have seen the original animations by Jon and Bert... who hasnt. So we decided to join, and we wanted to just blow everyone away with a 30 second flash animations to the "all pivot" collab. We asked the orginizer, and he said yes. We couldnt be more excited, and we immediately began production. With heads full of fresh ideas, we constantly worked our hardest to make the most awesome tribute we could. With dates constantly being extended on the collab, this gave us more and more time to do what we wanted with the animation. We kept adding more and more to it, and sooner or later, we found ourselves with a good 40 seconds, 10 more seconds than origianlly planned. We were so happy with our work, our first full length animation to be shown to all that enjoyed the NewYork animations. To our great dissapointment, we realized that the collab failed, and absolutely NO ONE completed their parts (there was about 20 participants).

So we sat and thought, we have have 40 seconds of an animation, and no help to launch it. This was very discouraging to us, and we left the animation alone for a good 2 months, with almost no work on it at all. But one afternoon, we decided to get back to work, and thought that no one could bring us down, no matter what.

We wanted to extend what we had, and make it longer and into a full animation, so we did, and synced itto a BattleField Bad Company Sountrack, this added to its epicness, and we came to have what we have today. The NewYork 2148 tribute. The first animation took about 4 months to complete, and it was well worth it. After broadcasting it to DarkDemon.org, we were highly praised for it, and even the original creators Jon and Bert complemented us on our hard work and determination.

So why create the 2148 series? Well we loved the original pivot animations, but knowing that both Jon and Bert quit, and could/would no longer create new episodes, we had a spontanious idea. We thought, why not finish what they had started, except give this title a story and charcaters, everything was being prepared. We asked both Jon and Bert if it would be possible to finish what they started, and to our great surprise, they both agreed.

We began production on the series, and started on the Prologue parts, to give a more historical background as to why the 2148 events all took place. With a stunning progression in our animation skills, we quickly have put out both completed parts to the Prologue, in a combined time of about 2 months, 5 weeks for the first part, and 3 weeks for the second.

Ideas since then have still been shaping and tweening, but throughout this all, the main storyline we once thought of has remained the same, and is being constructed into what the NewYork 2148 series is today. DAMN!!! Thats a mouthfull.
